Isaias made landfall around 9:30 p.m. Eastern as a Category 2 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 105 mph.

DESTIN, Fla. — Hurricane Isaias made landfall Friday night around 9:30 p.m. EDT near Destin, Florida, as a Category 2 hurricane with winds around 105 mph.

Storm surge, heavy rain, damaging wind gusts, dangerous beach conditions and tropical tornadoes will continue along the Gulf coast as the storm moves farther inland.

Later this weekend, impacts from the storm expand into Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky and the Carolinas.

When did Isaias form?

Isaias landed in the record books Wednesday night as the first hurricane of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season and the latest-forming on record this late in a season.
