Hudson Fire Department referendum: Tax levy hike on November ballot

As Hudson faces longer firefighter response times and growing number of calls for service, voters will now be tasked with a big questions on the ballot this November: Raise taxes or add full-time firefighters.

City council has approved the referendum, which if passed, would raise the tax levy by over nine percent to cover ongoing fire department costs and to help hire nine full-time fire staff members.

Mainly serving as a paid on-call department, the Hudson Fire Department is responsible for a 49-square-mile area.
