Hasan Piker event in Minnesota draws backlash and splits DFL Party week before election

An online streamer and political commentator who is a self-described socialist is visiting Minneapolis on Monday night for an event with Rep. Ilhan Omar and state Sen. Omar Fateh.

His appearance a week before Election Day has drawn backlash from Republicans, but it’s also split the DFL Party.

Piker has previously made inflammatory comments, including that “America deserved 9/11,” that have drawn criticism from those across the political spectrum.
