Cadillac and Blazer recall
Dig deeper:
Vehicles involved in this recall could briefly lose braking ability, according to an NHTSA recall notice.
If a driver turns sharply, goes over a small bump (like the edge of a driveway), and taps the brakes at a slow speed, the computer could possibly miscalculate how the wheels are spinning and can stop the brakes from working for a brief second.
The models involved in this recall include:
- 2023–2027 Cadillac LYRIQ (44,585 units total across 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026, and 2027 model years)
- 2024–2027 Chevrolet Blazer EV (3,911 units total across SS and PPV trim levels for 2024, 2025, 2026, and 2027 model years)
- 2025–2026 Cadillac CELESTIQ (82 units total across 2025 and 2026 model years)
- 2026–2027 Cadillac VISTIQ (18,802 units total across 2026 and 2027 model years)
The NHTSA recall number for this notice is 26V717.
Why you should care:
GM said this issue has been linked to 20 minor crashes and two small injuries.
What you can do:
The brakes work again as soon as the driver steps on the pedal a second time.
GM will issue a software update to all impacted vehicles.
Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans
Dig deeper:
A nut on the steering parts of these impacted vehicles was not tightened correctly, according to the NHTSA.
GM attempted to remedy the issue during an earlier check, but about 108 parts were missed.
The models in this recall include:
- 2025–2026 Chevrolet Express (8,693 units total across 2025 and 2026 model years)
- 2025–2026 GMC Savana (4,022 units total across 2025 and 2026 model years)
The NHTSA recall number for this notice is 26V718.
Why you should care:
If the nut gets too loose or falls off while driving, the driver could completely lose the ability to steer the van.
What you can do:
Owners of these impacted vehicles can go to a dealership and have the part replaced for free.
Consumers who believe their car is impacted can also contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-333-4223 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020.
What's next:
GM plans to alert dealerships about the recalls and will send out emails to owners by Dec. 14, 2026.
