The father of three says he forgot to remove two loaded ammunition magazines from his carry-on backpack before a family vacation to Jamaica.
ATLANTA — Igor Andrusceak admits he made a serious mistake.
He said that TSA screeners at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport also failed to find them. There was no gun inside the bag. Andrusceak insists he never intended to take the 30 rounds of ammunition out of the country.
Jamaican authorities found the magazines as his family prepared to fly home.
Now, a mistake missed on both ends could send the small-business owner from Athens, Georgia, to prison for at least 15 years.
Andrusceak understands Jamaica’s strict gun laws. He also believes the potential punishment is far too harsh for someone who brought no firearm and says he intended no harm.
