The backstory:
Mock pleaded guilty in August to first-degree felony murder in the Oct. 31, 2025, stabbing death of her 80-year-old mother, Anita Avers.
Wichita police responding to a reported cutting found Avers unresponsive in her bed with multiple stab wounds inside the home she shared with Mock and Mock’s stepfather. Avers was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Mock made statements indicating she believed her mother was the devil and that she killed her to "save herself."
