Former Gov. Mark Dayton releases new book, talks about fraud in new interview

Former Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton launched a storied political career after growing up in one of the state’s most famous families.

His great-grandfather founded Dayton’s Department Store, a company that eventually became Target Corporation. He decided not to follow in the family footsteps in the retail business world and set off for a career in politics.

“I’m at the end of my life; I’ll be 80 in January,” he says in explaining why he decided to write a book. “It was a chance to sort of sum it up for my sake, my five grandchildren; it’s dedicated to them.”

The book is called “Perseverance: A Memoir,” with a foreword by Hillary Rodham Clinton and published by the Minnesota Historical Society Press.
