Moorhead police said Flock camera technology helped to arrest a Staples man who is now facing charges for stealing and burning items that were inside.
According to a criminal complaint, 74-year-old Robert Andert was charged Monday with three felony theft counts and one felony count of criminal property damage.
The Moorhead Police Department said the investigation began Aug. 4 after a trailer belonging to the American Legion was reported stolen from north Moorhead. The trailer had merchandise from the Veterans Honor Flight of North Dakota and Minnesota.
Court documents show the trailer held about $30,000 in apparel and equipment. The trailer itself cost around $7,500.
Police said officers reviewed theft video and worked with Fargo and Detroit Lakes police to track the trailer and identify a suspect. Authorities said detectives used Flock license plate reader technology to develop leads on the trailer’s location.
