The Minneapolis Fire Department said one of its firefighters was injured Sunday while responding to an apartment fire.

According to the department, the fire was reported just before 10 a.m. at 1005 Portland Avenue, the address of an apartment building called the Balmoral.

Smoke and flames could be seen coming from the third floor of the building as first responders arrived on scene. Firefighters had to assist multiple people in evacuating the building, but the fire was stopped and four units were damaged.

While no residents were injured, the fire department said one firefighter was taken to the hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.

The American Red Cross is assisting residents displaced from the apartment.
