WASHINGTON — The Food and Drug Administration has issued a Class II recall of six hand soap products due to potential bacterial contamination.
The Class II recall represents the FDA's second-most severe alert level, defined as "a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences."
For two of the six products, four different potential microorganisms — Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Pseudomonas putida, Pseudomonas montelilii, Serratia marcescens and Serratia nematodiphila — were listed as the potential bacterial contaminants of the products.
