A Minnesotan's journey back to inline skating and why she wants others to join.
HUGO, Minn. — In the 90s, skating was everywhere; there is no doubt about it. Avid skaters have estimated that close to 20 million Americans went skating at its peak.
But just a decade later, those same enthusiasts say the sport lost its touch. In 2005, rollerblading was really hit hard when ESPN dropped inline skating from the X Games.
But now, those same skating enthusiasts are seeing a resurgence and it only makes sense: rollerblades were invented in Minnesota in 1980 by two off-season hockey players, according to the Rollerblade website.
