A Wisconsin driver was helped from a burning vehicle by a passing motorist on Sunday evening after trying to turn, driving into a ditch and going airborne for about 135 feet before landing overturned in a nearby field, according to the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators say the 42-year-old woman from Eau Claire was taken to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries before she was cited for operating while under the influence and failure to maintain control of a vehicle.

The crash happened just after 6 p.m. on State Highway 85 near 760th Street in the Township of Peru.

According to the sheriff’s office, the car caught fire when it landed, and it quickly became engulfed in flames.

The driver was the only person in the car, and investigators say they believe she will be alright.
