Downtown Minneapolis shooting: 3 dead including shooter, 3 officers injured

MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - Authorities say three people are dead, and three police officers were injured after a shooting at a downtown Minneapolis apartment Wednesday afternoon.

What we know:

The Minneapolis Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at 4:36 p.m. at 15 East Grant Street in downtown Minneapolis.

When officers arrived to a high-rise apartment, they encountered multiple victims and heard additional gunfire. Police say three people are dead, including the suspected shooter. Minneapolis police say there are still investigating how the suspected shooter died. 

Three officers were injured, two by gunfire. One officer is hospitalized and in surgery after a gunshot wound to the stomach. Another officer suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg, and a third officer was evaluated for a non-life threatening injury.

Police say one shooting victim was pronounced dead at the hospital. Another shooting victim was pronounced dead at the scene. 

A total of six people were injured, including the three officers.

What we don't know:

What led up to the shooting is not known. Minneapolis police and city leaders are planning a Wednesday evening news conference.
