Contractor dies after losing consciousness while working on refinery in St. Paul Park

A contractor working at a St. Paul Park refinery died on Sunday afternoon after being injured when he lost consciousness while working, Marathon Petroleum officials said.

A spokesperson for the city’s police department said first responders were called to the Marathon Petroleum refinery around 4:15 p.m. after reports that a contractor was injured. The man was pronounced dead at the refinery.

No information about what led up to the incident was immediately available.

St. Paul police are investigating the death. The identity of the man who died has not been made public.
