Construction company fined for polluting designated trout stream

An Iowa-based company has been fined more than $16,000 for water pollution violations.

HARMONY, Minn. — A routine review of a trout stream in Fillmore County has led to a hefty fine for a construction company.

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) announced it has fined Iowa-based Bruening Rock Products Inc. $16,410 for water pollution and permit violations.

MPCA says it found evidence that sediment from ponded stormwater had been discharged into Camp Creek, a designated trout stream

"Bruening failed to establish sediment control practices and did not have documentation of an inventory or list of materials and activities at the work site that could potentially be a source of pollutants to stormwater discharges," MPCA said in a news release.
