WASHINGTON — The cause of death of Stacey King, a three-time NBA champion with the Chicago Bulls who later became a beloved broadcaster, has been revealed.
Officials with the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office in Illinois say King died of hypertensive cardiovascular disease. Obesity was also a contributing factor, but his death was natural.
The former NBA champion was selected by the Chicago Bulls in the 1989 NBA draft as the sixth pick.
During his time with the Bulls, he was named NBA All-Rookie Second Team in 1990 and won three consecutive NBA championships from 1991-1993, playing alongside Michael Jordan.
