Donna James told her family she wanted a small lap dog as a companion in her golden years. A Missouri animal rescue found the perfect match.

GLADSTONE, Mo. — A blind 91-year-old woman in Missouri has found the perfect companion in her golden years.

Donna James, who lives in the Kansas City area, told her family she really wanted a lap dog after recently losing her sight. James said she just wanted an animal to hold and pet.

Carrie Siems, the founder of Pawportunities Animal Services, worked with James' family and believed Mocha was the perfect match. Mocha is a 4-year-old Chihuahua that was found at a shelter in Texas. She also experienced sudden blindness, and veterinarians could not figure out the cause.

"The moment that they met, it was just love at first sight," Siems said.
