WASHINGTON — AAA estimates the average cost to own a new car is more than $1,000 per month.
The organization unveiled its annual driving costs analysis on Tuesday, Sept. 15, breaking down the full cost of vehicle ownership. The estimate covers five years and 75,000 miles of personal use and includes fuel, maintenance, repairs, tires, insurance, licensing, registration, taxes, depreciation and finance charges.
According to the report, drivers will, on average, spend $12,863 a year to own a new car, which breaks down to approximately $1,071 per month.
