WASHINGTON — American Airlines is planning a major overhaul of its narrowbody fleet, including adding seatback entertainment screens at every seat and significantly expanding the number of premium seats.

New Airbus and Boeing aircraft will begin arriving with the screens in 2028. American will also add them to existing planes as they are retrofitted. The airline expects the rollout to be completed by early next decade.
