Alleged gang member charged in 2025 shooting in Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis

A criminal case has been filed against an alleged gang member who investigators say shot and killed a man last spring in south Minneapolis.

Court records show Shawn Edward Bellanger, 24, is charged with one count of second-degree murder in connection with the April 27, 2025, shooting death of 33-year-old Lamont Agnew.

According to a criminal complaint, Agnew was found shot multiple times near the intersection of 29th Street East and Clinton Avenue South, in the city’s Phillips neighborhood. He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he later died.
