82-year-old Idaho woman with cancer fulfills lifelong dream of flying in a helicopter

CALDWELL, Idaho — An 82-year-old woman battling pancreatic cancer got to fulfill a lifelong dream when an aviation company offered her a helicopter ride for what she called her final bucket-list item.

Cherie Painter, of Caldwell, Idaho, had always wanted to fly in a helicopter, but the opportunity didn't come until her family reached out to the community for help.

"Everybody has something they missed when they were growing up," Painter said. "This is something I've always wanted to do."
