3 new wildfires started by lightning in northern Minnesota

The Superior National Forest is reporting that three new wildfires have started as of Friday due to lightning.

As initially reported by 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS sister station WDIO, the Hanson Lake Fire, which is being managed by the Superior National Forest Service, is being reported at 0.25 acres between Slim Lake and the North Arm of Burntside Lake.

The North Lake Fire, located northwest of the Thumb Fire, is also being reported at 0.25 acres and is being managed by the July Lightning Complex Team.

The Mueller Fire is being reported as 0.10 acres. It is located on the southeast side of Mueller Lake along the shoreline in the Gunflint Ranger District.
