2028 Olympic torch relay to travel through all 50 states

A ceremony for the announcement was held in Atlanta, where Mayor Andre Dickens said the flame will arrive in Georgia from Greece to kickstart the torch relay in spring 2028.

"When the flame returns to the United States, Atlanta will be ready — ready to welcome it from Greece, ready to celebrate the spirit of the Games together as a community and ready to send it forward towards Los Angeles and the next chapter of America's Olympic story," Mayor Dickens said. "Atlanta was proud to carry the flame in 1996, we will be proud to welcome it back."

Atlanta was the last U.S. city to host the Summer Olympics, in 1996. Los Angeles at that time was itself the previous U.S. city to hose the Summer Games, in 1984.
