Sixteen people incarcerated in Ohio were hospitalized after lightning struck the prison during severe weather Tuesday. One of the 16 was airlifted.
The group was returning from their evening meal Tuesday night when the lightning strike occurred. The group was outside during the storm, moving from building to building.
Those injured have since been taken to an outside hospital for treatment, with one being airlifted from the scene.
Nine of the inmates were returned to the facility by Wednesday morning while seven remained in the hospital, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.
